Women in Rail Malaysia 11th Leadership Talk – Leading The Way : Women at ARUP

On 24th May 2024, Women in Rail Malaysia collaborated with ARUP for the 11th Leadership Talk at ARUP’s Malaysia office in Bandar Utama. We were privileged to have Ms. Jo Carmichael, Director of Cities, Planning and Design at ARUP, share her inspiring insights.
Ms. Carmichael shared her career journey, discussing both personal and professional challenges she faced. From her early days in engineering to living in cities worldwide, she explained how these experiences shaped her leadership style. As Global Transport Planning Skill Lead at ARUP, Ms. Carmichael stressed the role of leadership in driving innovation and inclusivity at work.
Highlighting ARUP’s efforts in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), Ms. Carmichael underscored the company’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace. She detailed several initiatives aimed at promoting DEI across ARUP’s global offices.

The session concluded with a dynamic Q&A, where 40 Women in Rail Malaysia members engaged with Ms. Carmichael, gaining valuable insights into her experiences. Attendees also enjoyed a brief networking session, connecting over refreshments and further enhancing their learning and professional networks.
